It is quite an easy and simple task with the new pre-built products available on the market today. Before you install such an beautiful door, you need to finish and protect its surface. Staining : We decided to stain the interior solid wood doors the same color as the cabinets in the kitchen and in the bathrooms which is dark brown, expresso. To do a good job you need to Sand the wood surface in the direction of the grain. First using medium grade sandpaper (#120) and working your way to #150 and then fine-grade #280 Remove all sanding dust before staining. Pre-treat soft or porous woods such as maple, birch, and pine like this door with a Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner. This will help the wood to evenly absorb stain color. Apply stain within two hours of pre-treatment. Assure you to Stir the stain thoroughly and do a color test on a hidden area like the exterior side of the frame. Apply the stain in the direction of the grain with a brush or clean cloth. Let the stain penetrate 5 -15 minutes to ensure you achieve the desired color. Remove excess stain with a clean cloth. Wipe in the direction of the grain, while blending light and dark areas to obtain uniform color. To Darken color, apply a second coat after 4-6 hours, repeating application directions of first coat. Sand between each coat. After a minimum of 8 hours, apply a clear, protective finish Each pane of glass is wrapped with plastic. After treating the door (paint, stain or varnish), cut along the perimeter of the glass with a sharp utility knife. To remove, place a straight smooth edge against the glass, peel one corner and pull off the plastic towards you. Repeat the same instructions on the opposite side. Tips bilboard : Logo Milette Doors. Remember : to obtain a nice finsih for a solid wood door, you always need to sand and to stain in the wood grain direction. Make sure you mix the stain toroughly and make a color test . Finaly, sand both sides of the door between each coat of stain. As for the installtion of the dor itself, it is very simple. 05 10345800 10363600 1:39 Assemble the frame and put it in place. The frame sides must be perfectly aligned with the walls. Temporarily screw in the upper section of the frame on the hinge side.. Adjust the door and frame levels, and then nail in the base of the frame. Use cedar wedges to support the door and give it the right height during this operation Make sure the door is well adjusted, opens and closes properly. Insert cedar wedges to maintain the frame in its position. Once everything is aligned, fix the door frame into the wall studs permanently. Cut out the exceeding cedar wedges with a utility knife and put up the stop molding on the frame. Slide insulation blanket pieces into the cavities around the frame if the gaps are large enough and apply acoustic sealant. Climaloc Window Kit comfort Plus #10 (7) Your windows are collecting ice in winter. Maybe it is because they are not completely airtight of the thermal resistance is not very high. If surface of the moulding is below 5 degrees Celsius, or 40 degrees F, heat with a hair dryer prior to applying the tape. Clean and dry the window moulding or frame thoroughly. Apply the tape, liner still intact to the outside edge or to the face of the window moulding frame. Peel off liner to expose adhesive. Unfold the plastic film and cut to size, allowing at least 5 cm (2 inches) extra on all four sides. Be sure to unfold the film completely. Press the film lightly on the tape at the top edge of the window. Pull the film tight and attach to the tape at bottom sides. The film may be removed and repositioned if necessary. Press the film securely to tape. Shrink the film with a hair dryer at highest heat setting. Hold the dryer a few centimeter from the film surface, starting at one corner and moving slowly back and forth across the entire film surface until all wrinkles and creases disappear. Avoid touching the film with the dryer. Trim the excess film with scissors or a utility knife. Clean the film with a damp soft cloth if necessary. Della Shower doors. The shower door that we will install for the ceramic shower really steals the show and stands out from ordinary shower doors. It features kiln-fired tempered glass doors that bring exceptional style. Before the installation, you need to protect the shower base. Measure the distance between the holes at the base of each side glass panels. Put the bottom rail into position on the shower base and the side rails temporarly against the walls. Make sutre that the bottom rail is centered according to the measurments you just took. Now leveled the side rail and mark the location on the wall. Drive the necessary holes with cuation and attach the side rails on the walls. You can then install the side glass panels in the side rails using the screws and washers provided. Attach the bottom rail to the side glass panels. Install the hinges on the the panels and put the doors into place. Install the structural arms onto the side glass panels and attach to the walls. Finaly, install the door knobs, the caps and the covers. And that is all there is to it. What is left is the silicone joints on the exterior, between the walls and the side rails and between the side rails and side glass panels. Tips billboard : Logo Moen Remember that faucets play an important role in your home style. They should absolutly be taken into consideration when renovating and designing your home. The Jean Claude Poitras Kitchen: To install these suberb kitchen cabinets design by Jean Claude Poitras the first thing you need to do is locate the highest point in the floor where you want to install the cupboards. Make a mark on the wall. On this mark, draw a horizontal, leveled line that corresponds to your cupboard’s height. Following this reference line, locate the wall studs with a finishing nail or an electronic detector. Usually, wall studs are found every 40 cm center to center. For pre-assembled cupboards, remove the protection film by cutting through the back of the unit so as not to damage the finish. Put the first cupboard in place. The first cupboard is the most important one. It must be absolutely level otherwise all the others will be crooked. Adjust the cupboard level with cedar wedges on each side. Once the cupboard is level, screw it in the wall studs. Use cedar wedges to adjust and level the second cupboard. When the two cupboards are screwed together, make the necessary adjustments to the second cupboard and screw it in permanently in the wall studs. Proceed the same way for every other cupboard. Each time, fix the cupboard you are working on to the one before with vise grips. Once the two cupboards are aligned, screw them in. Note that cabinets are installed without their doors and drawers. Only when the installation is complete will the cabinet doors and drawers be reset. 06 10350310 10370525 2:02 Write out the horizontal reference line on the width of the next cupboard. Draw a vertical leveled line and put up the cupboard by setting it against both lines. Finally, put the next cupboard in place and repeat the same installation steps. Slide in the shelf support fixtures, and then the shelves. Put the cabinet doors back on and slide the drawers back inside. If necessary, adjust the cabinet doors with screws designed for this purpose. Some manufacturers offer hardware that make door and drawer installation much easier. For example, this type of cupboard only requires three screws for an impeccable finish. Jean Claude Poitras is one of North America`s most celebrated fashion designers for 30 years.
