Ces poignées sont offertes dans plusieurs finis et ajouteront une touche personnelle à votre décor. De plus, elles sont garanties à vie Tip Billboard : Logo Weiser. Remember: it always better to install the same line of door knob troughout your home. These door kobs are available in different finishes and can highlight any decor. They come with a lifetime warranty! Welcome to So You’re Renovating! cottage edition. This is our twelfth week of heavy renovations. Like everyweek, we have selected three handy-friends that will help us to complete the renovation of our cottage. Speaking about renovations, if you just tuned in, you need to know that this house was a cabin that we lifted up with a 40 tone crane to redo the foundations. We have added an extra floor, in reinforced concrete, reconstructed the third floor from the old cottage. Our handy-friends re did the roof added seven skylights, replaced all doors and windows, insulated, built interior partitions, plumbing, electricity, ventilation, installed fabulous minimalist style shower, bathtub, put up the gypse, finished the joints, painted, install the sub floors, lay down hard wood floors and ceramic tiles re-built all balconies and a floatting deck, installed new interior doors, medecine cabinets and had time for some landscaping as well! Finally, last week Kayla installed superb kitchen cabinets designed by Mr. Jean Claude Poitras while Andrew installed a toilet and bathroom cabinets, Jamie installed screens to protect the gutters and installed the interior door knobs. Oh, and aslo, Spikee helped us clean the windows! Today we will decorate and yes this is not a joke! Job assignment : A/ You, will complete the gutters system by installing the downspipes. B/ You will Install the faucets in the kitchen and bathroom, and not any kind of faucets. C/ And you will install a range hood in our Jean Claude Poitras kitchen along with some very nice accessories. By the way, we have a little contest here. You can go to the So You’re Renovating.com and vote for your preferred handy-friend. The handy friend that collects more vote will win at the end of the series the help of our renovation team to renovate:……… is own place. O »K. Lets Go Exterior : Here we are on the crime scene : Gutters without downspipes. WHAT A SHAME! We saw a few weeks ago, with our gutter expert, that this type of situation can only cause problems. First, the water coming from the gutters can destroy the siding or exterior finish of the house. Second, the water can accumulate around the foundations and inflitrate into the basement causing even more sereve damages. Your first task today consists in installing the downspipe. I hope you are not afraid of heights. O.k. go up and take the measurments. Meanwhile, I will go see what…… is doing. Assemble the downspout section on the ground by interlocking them according to the direction of the water flow. Plan for the downspout installation by minutely determining their projected location according to the position of other interlocking gutter runs. Pre-drill small holes to screw in the parts. Steel gutters can be cut with a hacksaw or shears. Use stainless steel screws supplied by the manufacturer.. Always screw the gutters in their upper section to avoid water from spilling through the screw holes. To connect the downspout to the gutter assembly, snap together the elbows and the drop outlet to complete the installation between the gutter and the wall of the house. Then, proceed in the same manner at ground level for the section between the wall of the house and the disposal points. Measure the section that will run alongside the house, between two extremities. Use large fencing pliers to make the jointing easier by folding in the four corner edges of the pipes. Connect the complete structure with the drop outlet and hold it in place with a screw. Hold the section to the wall and fasten it with a bracket or a decorative strap hanger. Install a bracket or a decorative strap hanger 6 inches from the downspout base. Good job! The downspipe is installed. Now you need to make sure that water flows naturally toward the street. You may need to reshape the ground slope. Remember: you are responsible for any water accumulation on your property. If water flows unto your neighbor’s lawn, you can damage his property and suffer the consequences. 08 11021226 11025615 0:44 Not only should you avoid damaging your neighbor’s property, you should also make sure the ground slope will divert water away from your house foundations. Water accumulation close to foundation structures can penetrate the walls and cause important damage such as cracks in the concrete and rotting of basement finishing materials. Finally you need to place a concrete plate or a flat stone below the downspout to prevent the ground from eroding. O.K you’ve done enough hard work that you now deserve a therapeutic bath. 10/24 Tips Billboard. Primeau Water that is not carried off towards the proper areas through the gutter system, will cause important damages to your home. Preferably choose a gutter structure whose backside is higher than its front side. If ever there is overflowing, water will leak over the front of the gutter and not against the cornice. You just need to Remove the cover plate on light switch. Pull out the die cut areas and position the weatherstrip. Simply replace the cover plates and that’s is it! Pro-Pink (English) Once again, we want to bring up to your attention that insulating your house is very importante. A well insulated house will help cut down on energy bills and will play a valuable role in preserving the environment. Properly installed, Fiberglas insultoin will not significantly sag or settle. Thereby assuring that the insulated R value is maintained. Tests done on fibre glass insulation from a 40 year old building confirmed that, despite the age of the material, the fibre glass insulation had retained its original thermal performance. Fiberglas insulation is made primarily from sand, an inherently noncombustible material. Therefore, glass fibres will not burn and require no fire-retardant chemicals. And fibre glass remain noncombustible for the life of the product. In other type of insulating materials, fire-retardant chemicals can disappear from the insulation over time-as much as 28 percent in the first two-year period following installation. Insulation made of glass fibre is not absorbent; Deposit droplets may evaporate over time or simply drain off. In this way the insulation resists any permanent loss of R-Value. The glass fibre insulation materials thereby maintain their resistance to moisture damage and do not support biological and bacterial growth. Once the job is done, a little trick consists of placing little pieces of plastic under the roof ventilators. Usually, the roof ventilators are built to prevent rain or snow infiltration but they can still happen during storms and heavy snow accumulations. The pieces of plastic will prevent the water or snow to penetrate the insulation. It will simply evaporate when warm days are back. Tip Billboard : Logo Owens Corning Remember, insulating your house properly is very importante. A well insulated house will help cut down on energy bills and will play a valuable role in preserving the environment. Fiberglas insulation is an efficient insulating material you can trust. That’s it for today. Join us next week for the conclusion of our cottage edition series. We have prepared a few surprises that you just can’t miss. See you then!
